How to help yourself to subside the pain

Due to our stressful lives, we all sometimes come across sudden pangs of pain while working on our desks or even at home. Many of you don’t know is that what appears in the physical is the final call of our body and this pain has started sometime back, either in the recent past or way back in the past when we were children or young adults through our thoughts (and even triggered from words we hear about ourselves and believe them to be true).

Our thoughts build up in our own consciousness and ultimately take shape in the form of pain , for some it is momentary and for some it is a pain that they are living with many years.

We are very unattached from our natural surroundings, specially those in the cities who do not even touch the Earth with their barefeet.

Out of personal experience and regularly trying this technique on myself , I am recommending the same to you.

A few years back (way back in 2008) I was hit with a severe case of spondylitis , affecting my work and it became so worse that I would not be able to drive my car back and forth to work. So my option was to get a plaster around my neck or take care of myself …. and I choose to take care of myself. So with regular physio therapy, exercise at home twice daily (yes even after the work, kids and home schedule I did do it) It took me a good 6-8 months to be fit and off medications. I did not stop even after I was alright.

Till this date I do get severe pains, when my stress levels are high and thankfully to my own learning of self care, I understand that it is my thoughts that are working its way and affecting me.

So how do you get rid of the negativity? The thoughts keep coming. I learnt a beautiful technique through my yoga teacher and Reiki teacher to give it all to Mother Earth. And yes believe me it works wonders ! Atleast for the aches and pains in the body.

Here are a few steps you can do when you are in pain specially for your neck, back and legs (works good on stomach pain as well)

If you have a garden in your courtyard then it is best else you can lie down on a yoga mat (even in your apartment is fine as you are touching the ground) or if you are close to the beach , you can do this on the sand near the beach or even on the desert sand … as long as you are able to connect with the Earth in anyway…. BAREFEET please !

  1. Lie down on your back with your hands stretched a little away from your body, palms touching the ground.
  2. feet apart from each other, do not cross them over each other
  3. Calm your breathing and observe your breathe for a few minutes, just feel the flow of your breathe
  4. Breathe with least effort and as slowly and deeply as possible.
  5. Keep your eyes closed all this while.
  6. Once you have calmed yourself, imagine and feel yourself lying and touching the green grass and Earth below you.
  7. Thanking God and the Divine Source for blessing you with good health, thank and give gratitude to Mother Earth for loving and taking care of humanity, the living beings on Earth.
  8. While keeping your eyes closed, say to her “Mother Earth, I bless you and send you my love. I am in pain and having negative energy surrounding me. I ask you to take this negative energy away from me and recycle, renew and reuse this energy for the betterment of the beings on this Earth. I ask you to fill me with positive and healing energy from your being to replace this negative energy.”
  9. While saying this , imagine the negative energy leaving your physical body (through the tips of your fingers of  hands and feet) and your aura and being replaced by Earth’s positive energy , a bright white golden light. Imagine this light entering your head and slowly flowing through each and every part of your body , flowing through your face, neck, spine, chest, stomach, hands, arms, buttocks, thighs, legs and feet … passing through every nerve in your body till you feel yourself filled with white golden healing light.
  10. Stay in this state for about 10 – 15 mins and give even your negative thoughts to Mother Earth.
  11. If you feel a bit sleepy it is fine … you can take a quick nap and wake up at your discretion.
  12. Close the session when you are ready to and thank Mother Earth for the rejuvenating energy and also the Divine Source for the love and healing.
  13. Before opening your eyes, rub your hands together and place them over yours eyes and soak the healing energy for your eyes and slowly turn on your side and open your eyes.
  14. You may now sit up.

I hope you find this useful and can do it at home (even in an apartment) when you are in pain. You can do this on a regular basis. Ideally it is good when you are going for your morning walks and after finishing your walk, you can calm your body and breathing by doing this, lying on the grass. I have also tried this while standing and stretching my arms out a bit so that the fingers are pointing towards the Earth. It works perfectly fine this way too.

Also, after you finish this healing session, you can stamp both your feet on the ground and walk a few minutes on the grass if possible.

Those having digestion and reproductive issues can also do this on a regular basis and feel the difference.

The key is to acknowledge and learn to love yourself unconditionally like Mother Earth and Divine Source loves you unconditionally.
