Exam season, release tension

Yes, exam season is not far away. We as parents are more tensed than the kids. They seem to not be tensed or not studying but let them relax a bit too. They are amazing the way they are, their marks do not define their capabilities and potential nor their future.

Their destiny will come to pass, they need to work smart more than work hard. So here are a few tips that I am putting for the kids if they would like to relax and enjoy their studies.

Hey Kids, here are a few tips for you !

  1. Schedule your day, it is just during the exams that everyone seems to put pressure on you. It is best to know your portion and estimate how long you are going to take to learn and revise it. If you have your exam timetable then plan the subjects to study backwards, so the last exam you will revise first and the first exam you will revise last. So go backwards and move forward with your studies.
  2. Take responsibility : Your parents take the responsibility of looking after you and providing you a safe, secure and good environment to flourish in. Take responsibility of your time, day, self care, food habits, media fasting etc
  3. Social Media fasting: Let’s be honest , the internet is not going to end while you give your exams ! It is going to be there even when you have finished your exams, so enjoy it later.
  4. Wake up and sleep on the same time for atleast 21 days, your body, mind and soul needs the rest to process all the things you have learnt during the day. This can be done only when you have had a good sleep. Normally 6-8hours of sleep is great enough.
  5. Don’t compare yourself with others: You are amazing, intelligent, smart, talented, skilled and unique the way you are. Your marks will not make you anything more or less of what you are. You deserve the best in life and you are unique ! One and Only masterpiece !
  6. Eat at regular intervals : Eat regularly during the day, stick to fresh food – fruits , vegetables, pulses, nuts… increase your protein content. Please avoid high sugar foods, fast food …stick to ghar ka khaana. Milk shakes and fruit juices are good to have during study breaks. And lots of water, as water removes the toxins from the body and releases the tension in your cells. Water intake increases oxygen level in the brain as well.
  7. Meditate daily for 10 minutes only : No , I am not asking to be a yogi or babaji ! LOL … just sit down after you have had your shower/bath in the morning for 10 minutes in a quiet place, close your eyes and after 5 deep breaths , start observing your breath only with your eyes closed. You can do this meditation even before sleeping. 2 minutes of pray and thank you (gratitude) to the almighty for the day you have spent or the day ahead will bring in peace to your mind and reduce your anxiety. (you can ask me if you need help with meditating)
  8. Don’t panic and get anxious: Sometimes your friends will talk about topics you feel, damn which chapter was that !! It’s ok don’t panic, you can browse through it, don’t worry if it is too difficult to learn, break it down in points and remember the points and then you can elaborate while writing it down. Do try to write down points if it helps you to learn it by breaking down the anwers.
  9. Stay Focused: Stay focused to your study time and schedule. Understand also how the papers and scoring system works so you can study accordingly. Take breaks to listen to some music which is light for the mind too.
  10. If you would like to write down 10 affirmations which you can say out loud in the morning or night then it is great. What you feel and visualize you want becomes your reality, but for that you have to have faith and believe that you already have it in the present without doubt and fear.
  11. Group study only once a week if you want to, as there is more talk and discussion which leads to increase tension and anxiety which we donot want at this moment.

And the best de-stresser is a foot massage for 5 mins (each foot) before your child sleeps in the night !! Increases blood circulation, oxygen and releases energy blocks.

I hope the above helps your child, these are some things that has worked for me and those around me.

Reiki Healing and its benefits

What is Reiki ?

Reiki is a form of alternative medicine called energy healing. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a “universal energy” is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing. Reiki healing is a Japanese Healing technique which has made way to the western world and is now one of the most used healing technique by people for self care and to heal others too.

Reiki can be practiced first on one’s own-self, teaches you self-care and learning to live more consciously. Through my journey of practicing it, I started with taking care of myself and then helped my family to heal them too.

I have always found it the most relaxing and gentle energy to work with, of course the divine energy is the most loving and warm healing energy which is easily accessible for everyone without any prejudice or judgement. It calms and relaxes your body, mind and soul. As it helps in removing toxins from the body, you can start to stay healthy and eat as well with more consciousness.

Reiki can be done energetically , even when the patient is in a different country or hands-on. When doing hands on many people feel that there is nothing happening, but that is due to the reason the practitioner or healer uses a very light touch of hands for the healing.

The healing takes about 40 mins or above depending upon the client or patient. While doing my sessions, I indulge the client in a short meditation to center themselves and calm them down.

It is ideal for children and people in hospital going through intense treatments. It helps you with your daily aches and pains by reducing anxiety and stress.

Meeraas 2018 , an evening of soulful ghazals honoring Majrooh Sultanpuri

The well-known literature foundation, Pasbaan-e-Adab, is organizing its most awaited event, Meeraas 2018 – an evening of soulful ghazals on 22nd December 2018 at Y B Chauhan Auditorium, Nariman Point, Mumbai.

Meeraas – The Heritage, an evening of soulful ghazals, brings together poets whose renditions are composed by the musicians of Pasbaan-e-Adab and will be sung by renowned singers on stage.

This year, Pasbaan-e-adab will be honoring Shri. Majrooh Sultanpuri, Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee, in his centenary year by presenting the unheard, unsung and uncomposed poetry of the legend. The evening promises to bring forth these poets by his son, Janab Andalib Sultanpuri

Majrooh Sultanpuri, is a name that does not need any introduction in the arena of Urdu Literature. His work and his contribution of Urdu poetry to the mainstream cinema are remembered by lovers of music till date. They still having his songs on their lips and the tune in their hearts!

He has worked with great stalwarts,from Naushad, Madan Mohan, S. D. Burman, Roshan, Ravi, N.Datta, Shankar-Jaikishan, O. P. Nayyar, UshaKhanna, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Anu Malik, R.D.Burman, RajeshRoshan, Bappi Lahiri, Kalyanji-Anandji, Anand-Milind and Jatin-Lalit , to Leslie Lezz Lewis and A. R. Rahman in his expansive 60 year career.

He won the Filmfare Best Lyricist Award in 1965 for “Chahunga Main Tujhe” (Film Dosti).He was honored with the highest award in Indian cinema, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for lifetime achievement in 1993.

In the 1980s and 1990s, most of his work was with Anand-Milind. Their most notable collaborations being Qayamat Se Qayamat TakLal Dupatta Malmal Ka, Love, Kurbaan and Dahek.

He also wrote timeless classics with Jatin-Lalit for films like, ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’ (including the song Pehla Nasha) & Yaara Dildara (including the song Bin Tere Sanam), which are still heard to this day on the airwaves.

With different styles and mediums, the ghazals and poetry of Majrooh Sahab, will bring back nostalgic moments for the audience, to enjoy and cherish.

The program of Meeraas commences at 6pm. It is a FREE Entry event for the lovers of literature and music. Seating is based on first come, first served basis. Pre-registration / Invitation is mandatory to attend the event.

Pasbaan-e-Adab – Introduction

The younger generation of our times is getting detached from their traditional and cultural roots due to influences of different cultures. Change is always difficult and though we learn from other cultures, keeping our heritage and culture alive by spreading the knowledge about its richness and depth is crucial for the next generations to be able to access, learn and value it.

Pasbaan-e-Adab, stands for protecting the patrons of literature. The foundation aims to spread and maintain the country’s historical and cultural values. This was the primary reason for which Pasbaan-e-adab was formed.

In the past decade, the foundation has organized many programs, promoting peace and harmony through Literature. As an institution it has grown to welcome an elite audience with willingness to learn and grow their understanding of Literature in various languages and forms in the company of the most renowned poets of the country. It includes, Izhaar – International Poetry Festival, Anubhuti – Quality Hindi Literature, Meraas –Heritage portraying our ancestral heritage, Kavyanjali – Literary works from Marathi Poets & Literati.

These programs are conducted in the Hindi, Urdu and Marathi languages respectively. The programs include International Literature Festival, adapting well-known literature writings with a musical representation,discussions and views on various writings by the poets and writers.

Shri Quaiser Khaild, a serving IGP, Mumbai Police, is the founder of Pasbaan-e-Adab (in Mumbai) and Jashan-e-Adab (in New Delhi). Being passionate about literature, he set up the foundation with a mission is to keep the culture of the Ganges-born Indian Heritage alive. Shri Khaild believes that to maintain harmony and co-existence in all classes of the society, literature plays an important and pivotal role. He further adds, “Literature has its thoughts and till we share and understand each other’s viewpoints on various topics and issues of the society, our feelings of humanity are not rekindled to be able to understand the need to coexist in harmony and peace”.  The exchange of views through literature brings about unity among members of the society. This is the crux of a harmonious, peaceful and culturally rich society, the foundations of which have been laid by Pasbaan-e-Adab and Jashan-e-Adab over the years.
